IT services company ATOS has been awarded a 10-year contract by EDF Energy, worth in excess of £100 million to provide data centre services for it’s UK businesses.
“The new solution will enable us to run our business more cost effectively while improving the resilience and flexibility of our IT infrastructure,” commented Nigel Pettifer, EDF Energy’s head of Data Centres.”
It should consolidate EDF Energy’s data centre infrastructure, which aims to cut costs up to 20%.
EDF Energy will be provided with significant additional data centre capacity by Atos, which will meet the increased demand, and enable it’s services to be flexed up or down to meet requirements.
Atos will introduce services from it’s own global network of data centres, and improve service resilience by implementing new technology solutions.
In excess of 100 employees are transferring from EDF Energy to Atos and will continue to be based at EDF Energy locations.
