The blue economy has received a boost by the launch of a new web portal providing free access to data about the UK’s territorial waters by the Crown Estate.
The Crown Estate has collected data for the web portal – named the Marine Data Exchange, which allows anyone access to the data which includes visual and landscape assessments. It’s hoped that it will create a sustainable “blue economy”and opportunities for developer to build.
The Crown Estate’s marine data manager, Pete Edmonds said “Our marine Data Exchange utilises the latest technology to create an easily accessible hub for crucial data which will save businesses time and money and will help increase environmental sustainability. All of this will provide a measurable boost to the blue economy.”
