A wind trade body shot down the prime minister’s statement yesterday that the public is ‘fed up’ with wind farms, and that the UK has ‘enough’ onshore windfarms.

His view that wind is “unpopular” has been “disproved countless times by opinion polls”, said RenewableUK’s Director of External Affairs, Jennifer Webber.

She added: “The Prime Minister’s desire to limit onshore wind just isn’t shared by the general population.”

The Department of Energy and Climate Change’s latest survey, in November, found two-thirds of people (67%) were in favour of onshore wind.
