E.ON has signed a 3 year deal for Qatari gas to bring it’s energy to the UK. The contract begins immediately with RasGas, and it will see liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar to the Isle of Grain.
Around two billion cubic meters of gas could be supplied over it’s term.
Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, CEO of RasGas said: “RasGas has four long-term LNG contracts in Europe and the UK is a very important market to the State of Qatar.”
He emphasised the company aims to be “safe and reliable” with its short and long-term gas sales.
Christopher Delbrück, CEO of E.ON Global Commodities said he was pleased with the deal, given the “rapidly changing LNG marketplace”.
He said: “The contract is a significant step in the development of our global growth strategy and is another big step in the development of our long-term partnership with the State of Qatar.”
