EDF’s UK renewable arm has commissioned 2 wind farms totalling to 11.3 MW.

The first is the M1 windfarm near Northampton, which has a capacity of 7.2 MW and features nine turbines.

The second is the Burnfoot North project in Scotland, which includes 2 turbines totalling 4.1 MW and is an extension of the Burnfoot Hill facility, which has a 26.7MW capacity.

The power generated is expected to be enough to power around 7,000 homes.

EDF Energy said that the four UK nuclear reactors that were shut down earlier in the year, may not be back online until the end of 2014.
