A new auto-rollover contract has been launched by EDF Energy for small businesses, with no exit fee.
It will be a 12 month fixed deal for small businesses who are on automatic renewal contracts, and should the customer change tariffs there will be no changeover charge.
British Gas, Npower and SSE all committed to stop selling these auto rollover contracts last week. However, EDF Energy claims their offer is “the best of both worlds” for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), ending contract “lock-ins”.
Director of small and medium businesses at EDF Energy Richard Hughes said they have listened to customers by “boldly changing the renewal process”.
John Allan, the national chairman, at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has welcomed has welcomed the move but wants suppliers to do more.
He added: “We now want to see the big six to go one step further and publish small business energy tariffs so that SMEs can easily compare one supplier’s price to another without having to contact different suppliers or rely on an energy broker.”
