cold calling

Eon has announced it is to end the practice of cold calling, as has SSE earlier today.

SSE said that many customers find the practice ‘intrusive’ and Eon said that from Monday 19th August, they will only contact residential or potential residential customers who have consented to be contacted via telephone.

Anthony Ainsworth, sales and marketing director of Eon UK, said: “This is the right thing to do.”

He added the company had been “working hard” over the last few months to gauge public opinion on cold calling, and “although we were still putting things in place to make this happen behind the scenes, it is best that we speed things up and confirm today that we’ve stopped these telephone calls.
