The former chief executive officer of RWE npower Volker Beckers has joined the board of trustees for sustainability charity Forum for the Future.
There are five new additions to the board, with Beckers saying in a statement that he’s interested in using the position to drive change in the sustainability agenda.
“I am a firm believer in transformative change and that is what Forum is all about. If I can do anything to accelerate that change and make a contribution that would be fantastic,” Beckers said.
“I have more than two decades’ experience working in energy, so will certainly be able to add a new dimension and approach to certain projects, as well as some expertise in programme management and hopefully a little bit of fun,” he added.
Beckers was chief executive of npower until the end of 2012, he was chief financial officer from 2003-2009.
Other trustees added alongside Beckers include journalist Lucy Siegle, chartered accountant Fiona Thompson, deputy executive director for Unicef UK Anita Tiessen, and former chief executive of Hamworthy Kelvyn Derrick.
