The Government is urging householders to act now to claim their cashback for installing energy saving measures in their homes.

The Green Deal Home Improvement Fund offers houses in England and Wales up to £7,600 for energy efficiency improvements including heating systems, solid wall insulation and double glazing.

The DECC has issued a total of £25 million to more than 4,400 households last month.

Energy Minister Greg Barker said: “With the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund off to such an encouraging start, it’s the perfect time to make your home more energy efficient. Act now, get money for the improvements and enjoy a warmer home and lower energy bills this winter.”

According to government figures, the average annual saving from installing major measures such as solid wall insulation in a three-bed semi-detached house is £270.

It says savings from other measures such as upgrading a boiler can knock around £100 off a customer’s bill.
