Scandinavian retailer IKEA said at an energy summit yesterday that renewable sources could benefit companies.
The home furnishing giant pledged to use power exclusively from renewable energy sources from 2020.
Steve Howard, Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA Group said: “Investing in renewable energy is good for business, the economy and the planet.
“That’s why we’ve committed to match 100% of our energy use with our own renewable energy generation by 2020 and have allocated EUR 1.5 billion to take us closer to this goal.”
The Climate Group initiative called RE100 supports major companies who are committed to 100% renewable power within a specified timeline.
Other companies who are joining the initiative include Nestlé, Philips and BT Group.
