shale gas

Lancashire County Council have been advised by planning officers to refuse permission for fracking for shale gas at two sites in Lancashire.

The report said bids for the sites at Preston New Road and Roseacre Wood should be turned down due to concerns over noise pollution and an “unacceptable impact”on rural roads.

The Government is pushing for the exploration to go ahead as they say it will create employment, growth and cheaper energy bills.

The final decision on the applications made by shale company Cuadrilla is due to made by the council next week, and if the decision is against, it will be seen as a huge blow to the industry.
