Npower awarded the Carbon Trust Standard

In recognition of reducing it’s carbon footprint successfully, Npower has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard.

In 2012, Npower reduced it’s electricity consumption by 12% in comparison to the previous year and puts it on the right track to to meet it’s target of a 38% reduction in carbon intensity of it’s offices compared to 2008 levels.

The savings have come from upgrading lighting, heating and ventilation systems, coupled with targeted energy efficiency goals.

Paul Massara, chief executive at Npower, said: “I’m delighted Npower has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard, which is a great endorsement that we’re well on target with our ongoing energy efficiency goals.”

Darran Messem, managing director of certification at the Carbon Trust, said: “By putting sustainability at the heart of its own buildings, Npower is leading by example when it comes to using energy as efficiently as possible.”
