UK planning officials have accepted the 1.8 GW Hornsea 2 wind farm for examination.
The 360- turbine project proposal, by SMart Wind is to be located 89 kilometres off the Yorkshire coast. It’s the second offshore wind farm proposal from the company in the Hornsea Zone.
According to the Planning Inspectorate, it is now up to SMart Wind to invite people, including members of the public, to give their views on the project.
Simon Ridley, Chief Executive, Planning Inspectorate said. “After careful consideration we have decided on behalf of the Secretary of State that the application submitted by Smart Wind Ltd met the required tests set out in the legislation to be accepted for examination”.
A final decision is expected to be made by the Energy Secretary following the public consultation.
