A £6 million grant has been secured by Samsung Heavy Industries from Scottish Enterprise to enable it to develop an offshore wind turbine test centre in Fife.

Fergus Ewing the Energy Minister granted the Korean company consent to install a prototype wind turbine with a 7MW capacity at the Fife Energy Park.

The 110m tall turbine will be located about 35m from the shore.
