The UK based solar energy company Solarcentury has been given permission to create a 6.3 mw solar park in Southern England.
Chalcroft Farm in Southampton will be the location for the solar park, which will house 25,632 solar panels covering 40 acres of land which will generate enough power for 1800 homes.
Solarcentury chose the site due to it’s proximity to grid connections and minimal visual impact.
“Solarcentury has designed and built 10 solar parks in the UK to date and this is the first where we have acted as developer,” says CEO Frans van den Heuvel. “When the right sites are selected, solar is a very attractive technology.”
There is currently another 68 MW of solar capacity in its development pipeline.
