SSE direct debit customers will receive automatic refunds at the end of the yearly billing cycle on credit balances over £5, according to an announcement by SSE.
The refunds were previously only made on balances over £100. The supplier will also start reviewing the accounts of direct debit customers twice a year in the next 12 months.
Tony Keeling, Director of Customer Service at SSE said: “SSE has always believed in doing more for our customers; that’s why we are delighted to announce a significant change to our direct debit policy that will help reassure customers they are getting a good deal.”
First Utility said earlier this month that they were cutting their charges for non-direct debit customers from £8 per month to £2.
