British turkey farmer, Bernard Matthews is planning to install a Biogas plant close to it’s Suffolk processing site, which will lead to a 2,800 tonnes carbon reduction and supplying 16% of the company’s energy needs.

The 499kw engine will burn gas generated from anaerobic digestion of waste matter from the production plant.

At the moment the waste is transported to an external contractor to be processed, so once this is installed it will save over 1,000 lorry journeys per year, creating a massive reduction in fuel.
